Architecture
The perfect climate of the Virgin Islands has inspired a style of architecture quite different from that on the mainland. Most homes are designed to take advantage of the cooling tradewinds and Caribbean views. Island homes feature open style floor plans, high vaulted ceilings, and expansive open and covered decks. Ceiling fans keep air moving when breezes are light. Classic native stonework used on the old sugar
mills during the plantation era of the 1700 and 1800s is still widely used in today's architecture.
